Jessica Auer’s first self-published book, Unmarked Sites, made the Photo Eye Best Books of 2011 list, picked by Lauren Henkin who wrote this about it:
It’s easy for me to enjoy a book of landscape images taken entirely in Newfoundland and Labrador. Unmarked Sites, with it’s portable size, personal notes from the artist, and sensitive design, transforms from an average photo book to a fun and intimate travel journal.
I had the privilege of designing the book with Jessica and you can check out some more photographs of it on my graphic design site here.
You can also purchase it through Photo Eye.
A lesser known fact is that I also work as a graphic designer and I was recently lucky enough to be able to combine it with photography. I recently designed the latest issue of LPV Magazine for Bryan Formhals. Working with Bryan was a great experience and I am really happy with the result. The issue, the third so far, features photos and quotes by Ed Panar, Hannah Pierce-Carlson, Shane Lynam and Tommy Forbes. It was really fun to edit and sequence other people’s photographs, and then lay them out. I hope to get to do it again some day. For those of you interested in purchasing a printed copy or if you’d rather download a digital version for free, you can do that here.
